Rationale

The work team concept is not new to the Bluffton area Apostolic community.  Work teams have been helping those in need for many years, but, for the most part, these projects have been of a reactive nature and not pro-active.  A.C.T.I.O.N. has been formed to move from a sporadic reactive work project program to an organized pro-active local mission program.

We have, within our Church Body, a vast number of very capable Brothers and Sisters who, if given the opportunity, could be used in many ways.  We are also blessed to have a willing, energetic, and growing Young Group.  With the assistance of the Parent Committee, many in this group have time available to be used to serve the needs of others.

The local Mission Fund and World Relief Fund of the Apostolic Christian Church is constantly looking for appropriate ways to use the funds which are so lovingly and willingly given by the local membership.

We also have a number of skilled craftsmen who posses the talent to coordinate the work in a professional manner.

The local governing agencies such as the welfare department, the planning commission, and the zoning board could give references for appropriate projects.  Also, simple word-of-mouth references could be considered.

 Goals

  • To glorify God in all that we do
  • To provide assistance in the form of work projects to those in our community both of and not of our Faith (Galatians 6:10)
  • To provide the opportunity for service for those who have the desire
  • To create opportunities for the Holy Spirit to lead each on involved to witness Jesus Christ to a world in need
  • To create within each of us the willingness to look for needs of others within our neighboring areas and beyond.
